| DO
YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT TOMORROW'S TV-PC
CONVERGED SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS
WILL BE LIKE? |
|
|
Where will
you be when voice, data, and video
are all delivered over a common IP
network to a hand held tv/phone device,
by a telecomedia company? Will you
be a passive observer? Or will you
be at Corpus Media Labs, building
tomorrows applications?
It is now commonly accepted that
the next battleground will be the
consumers' home. Cisco is buying Scientific
Atlanta, IP-Television is being rolled
out across the world, including India
and China, and companies like Blinx,
OpenTV, Espial, Podzinger could become
household names soon, just as Google,
Yahoo and Microsoft become tomorrow's
biggest media companies.
What can a converged network offer?
What will be the next generation of
games? What kind of intelligent architectures
and systems will need to be written
to deliver high value services? How
will broadcast systems integrate with
broadband applications? What kind
of service oriented architectures
might be required to deliver video
on demand to your television?
Are you the kind of person who wonders
what might happen if a set top box
could have a high end processor and
memory? Are you dying to work on the
latest DVB or H.264 standard? Are
you keen to put your programming knowledge
to the test of emerging platforms?
Whether you're a C programmer, a
gamer, a Java buff or a .net specialist,
have you been excited yet by the thought
of what might happen if the PC, the
TV, the mobile phone and the home
network were all available for video,
data, audio and other complex application
services?

CONVERGENCE
HAS ARRIVED. HAVE YOU? |
|
|
| |
| |
|
|
| |
- We want you if you're a
thinking developer. Not somebody
who programs by the book.
But somebody who understands
what a software program does
and why.
|
- We want you if you can
think on your feet and work
innovatively, and at the same
time, write bulletproof code
- We want you if you're excited
by challenges - the challenge
of working in less defined
platforms, with streamlined
software which demand that
you do more with less
- We want you if you're excited
by working for some of the
hottest product companies
in the convergent space. Or
the best platforms, applications
or even content businesses
- In short we want you if
you're more than just a developer.

|

The
convergence space is one
of the most exciting areas
to be in at this time,
with the emergence of
Web 2.0, global broadband,
interactivity, growth
of high end consumer electronics
and brand innovation across
multiple mediums –
Interactive TV, Web, Mobile
& IPTV. Working in
the convergence space
means that we are not
only on the crest of technology
wave but also on the leading
edge of emerging business
designs. |

What
kind of work we do ? |
|
|
Ajay Maru, Project Manager,
Bell ExpressVu, Canada:
Working on the Bell ExpressVu project
was an exciting experience. Firstly,
it was one of the big high profile projects
in our company wherein we had to build
and deploy the return path infrastructure.
Apart from the multiple skillset required,
spanning system design, software and
set top box knowledge, the challenge
in this project was that the project
was huge but the deadline was short
(as usual). We had to design, review,
build, test, and deploy the whole project
in less than 5 months time. The project
required 17 people working full-time
on the project and about 5 others pitching
in as and when their expertise was required.
Beyond managing the whole project and
people, it was a great experience working
off-shore and on-shore - working in
2 different cultures all together, helping
me to learn more, not only about the
cold weather in Canada but also managing
people and expectations given the different
environment that we live in. Yet, everyone
in the team including me had to slog
it out working overtime in order to
complete the project within the time
frame just to see to it that the infrastructure
was ready for launch by the New Year.
The biggest thrill was being able to
deliver a quality product on time." |

We have to be honest - if you're looking
for a typical IT job maintaining large
systems for a bank or insurance company,
we're probably not the best bet for
you.
If however you're interested in a career
which is defined by you, and a growth
path which you can influence directly,
with new opportunities to make a mark
almost every month, then Corpus Media Labs
is the place for you. |
